Mary started acting in high school. She performed in many plays for the school and the community. She also took vocal classes in high school then went on to sing opera with the Thunder Bay Symphony. Mary started teaching French in 1991, where she combined her love of singing and acting with the kids. She taught in small towns in Ontario for seven years before moving to Vancouver in 1998. Mary started teaching French Immersion in North Vancouver and has been there ever since. She is very active in North Vancouver Teachers’ Association. For the past seven years she’s been a strong advocate of student learning conditions and teacher working conditions, holding various positions including Treasurer, Secretary and most recently Bargaining Chairperson. Mary joined the Simple Gifts Community choir for a year, singing love songs, gospel and folk songs from around the world. Her busy schedule precludes her from singing with the choir, but hopes to get back soon.
