After receiving his BFA in Theatre from UBC, Allen has had the opportunity to perform with a variety of theatre companies throughout Canada and the U.S.; Green Thumb, Repercussion Theatre and Théâtre la Seizième to name a few. He wrote, and performed in the hit fringe play, Felony, which won “Best Site-Specific Show” at the 2012 Vancouver Fringe Festival Awards. He made his screenwriting debut with the short film Kodiak, which premiered at the Vancouver Film Festival and has since gone on to play at festivals in London, Australia and Cannes, among others. He is a published children’s author, having written interactive stories designed for the ipad with Story Panda. His most recent story, Lucy’s First Flight, is available on itunes. Allen also works part-time as a freelance advertising writer with Grey Group Canada and GGRP. He is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, teaching improv for the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing. He has been working with Some Assembly since 2010.
