Indigenous Cultural Expression Mentor, Script Consultant
Lauren is an Indigenous storyteller working on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her family roots are tied to the Leq’á:mel of Stó꞉lō Nation, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh from Xwemelch’stn, and Katzie Nation as well as Canadian settler heritage. Lauren was a writer/actor/post show workshop facilitator with Some Assembly’s RHYTAG projects 2012-2016. Since then, she graduated from Studio 58 Theatre and was head facilitator of the student lead diversity committee her final year. Lauren most recently appeared as Lucy in Ruby Slipper’s advance theatre festival staged reading of “In the Shadow of the Mountains” by Valerie Sing Turner and the Raven in Burnaby Village Museums live storytelling “How Raven Stole the Sun” by Maria Williams. Currently, Lauren is working alongside her community to assist and uplift Indigenous voices through traditional teachings of plants, storytelling, and tours to get people of all ages out on the land. Lauren is Some Assembly’s mentor in Indigenous education with cultural expression.
