Susan Bertoia

Movement Director, Physical Dramaturg, Mentor

Susan is a professional theatre artist who has been a valued member of the Some Assembly creative team for several years, contributing as a physical dramaturg and youth mentor. Her diverse career includes being a Jessie Award-winning actor, an adjunct professor in the UBC Theatre Department, and an artist-in-residence at various local schools. Additionally, she is a director and playwright in both film and theatre, a creative director for large-scale theatre productions, and the Artistic Director of her own company, BellaLuna Productions. Susan’s recent achievements include receiving the ‘Excellence in Drama Education’ award from ABCDE. Her extensive training includes a BFA in Theatre (Acting) from UBC, studies in Commedia (Piccolo Teatro di Milano and Dell’Arte School of Physical Theatre), mask making with Donato Sartori, physical theatre practice with Jeremy James, and devised theatre with Frantic Assembly and One Yellow Rabbit in Calgary.
